Chillum People Directory Landscape
There is no Chillum city hall or municipal staff list. Chillum is an unincorporated census-designated place in Prince George’s County, so useful people directories come from county departments, Prince George’s County Public Schools, the University of Maryland, state agencies, and historical custodians. A Hyattsville mailing address does not create a separate city directory for a Chillum resident. That geography is the first filter for any local lookup.
| Directory | People or names listed | Official keeper | How to use it |
|---|---|---|---|
| County staff directory | Employees, officials, boards | Prince George’s County | Free web browse |
| PGCPS staff sources | School leaders and employees | Prince George’s County Public Schools | Employee portal or school roster |
| UMD enterprise directory | Faculty, staff, affiliates | University of Maryland | Public staff search; student data restricted |
| MDLandRec | Grantors and grantees | Maryland State Archives and Circuit Clerk | Free account and name search |
| SDAT property data | Owners on located property cards | Maryland SDAT | Address, account, or map search |
| License and entity searches | Licensees, entities, trade names, agents | Maryland Labor and SDAT | Free public queries |
| Archives and library collections | Past residents and historical relationships | MSA, DeMarr Library, PGCMLS | Web, reference request, or research visit |
Start with the role that connects the person to a record. Public employees belong in an agency directory. A faculty member belongs in an institutional search. A property owner may appear after an address search, while a former owner can appear under grantor or grantee in a deed index. Historical residents require dated sources because modern Chillum boundaries do not map neatly onto old districts and postal names.
Chillum Government Directory Routes
The Prince George’s County staff directory is the closest official government people directory for Chillum. Its results combine county employees, elected officials, and boards. Category and subcategory labels help distinguish a person’s public role. The directory is meant to route a public question to the right unit, not to publish a personal biography or home contact data.
A typical county directory result has the following working fields:
| Name | Official or employee name |
|---|---|
| Job Title | Public position or assigned role |
| Category | Department, board, or program branch |
| Published work address when supplied | |
| Telephone | Published office contact number |
If a name is missing, browse the relevant department and call its main office. Maryland had no verified one-stop statewide employee-name directory in the research sweep. Individual agency rosters are the sound fallback. For an existing county record that is not compiled as a directory, use the custodian route described with Chillum public records; an agency does not have to create a new list that does not already exist.
Chillum School Staff Directories
The official PGCPS employee portal is the broad school-system directory, although its Oracle session prevented a full field inspection during research. School and office pages provide a more stable fallback. Chillum Elementary publishes current leadership and contact information, while the PGCPS Online Campus directory offers search and last-name sorting for its faculty and staff.
Online Campus entries can show a photo and profile, name, title, department, duties, email, and phone extension. Those fields help confirm that two similar names belong to different units. An official school page can establish a current institutional contact, but it is not an alumni directory and should not be treated as one.
UMD Directories Near Chillum
The University of Maryland enterprise directory covers current faculty, staff, and sponsored affiliates. Public users can begin with a first or last name, broaden a spelling through the sounds-like option, or move to advanced search. Student information requires a university login, a privacy limit that must not be worked around.
| Search control | Input or behavior | Access note |
|---|---|---|
| Basic name | First or last name | Public institutional search |
| Name sounds like | Spelling-variant match | Useful for uncertain spelling |
| Advanced Search | Additional institutional filters | Full dynamic labels were not exposed |
| Student directory | Authenticated lookup | UMD login required |
The official UMD directory source is shown below as captured for Chillum directory research.
The search choices make the directory useful for institutional affiliation while keeping the student boundary clear. A public entry may show name, work email, phone, and office. Clark School of Engineering pages can add department, role, building, and room for engineering personnel.
Chillum Property Name Directories
Property tools function as several distinct directories. MDLandRec is name-led: search an individual or corporation as grantor, the person giving an interest, or grantee, the person receiving it. Match modes include Is, Begins With, Ends With, Contains, Fuzzy, and Soundex. A free account is required for modern images, and the current Prince George’s modern party-index start year was not exposed.
SDAT Real Property Data Search is different. It shows an owner after a parcel is found, but it cannot search the ordinary Prince George’s property database by owner, town, subdivision, neighborhood, or ZIP. Search by street address, assessment account, or map reference. The card can then supply the deed liber and folio, meaning the recorded volume and page, for a direct jump into MDLandRec. PGAtlas adds parcel boundaries, account details, planning layers, and related map context.
Note: A name-led Chillum deed search benefits from Contains, Fuzzy, and Soundex, especially when an older index varies spelling.
Chillum License Directory Sources
Maryland Labor’s licensing gateway routes searches across more than 25 regulated categories, including contractors, barbers, cosmetologists, engineers, real estate professionals, home inspectors, locksmiths, plumbers, and electricians. Board results may expose a license name and number, type, status, issue or expiration date, business address, and discipline when that board publishes it. Health professions use their own Maryland boards, and attorneys use the Judiciary or bar directory.
The statewide source matters because Chillum has no municipal occupational-license directory. Some searches accept a surname or license number; a partial surname works in the social-work search. Always read the status in its native board result. A license listing confirms the board’s record, not every claim a person or business makes.
Chillum Business Entity Directory
Maryland Business Express acts as a directory of corporations, LLCs, partnerships, professional corporations, and registered trade names. Search a business name or Department ID, then review general information, filing history, and annual report or personal-property status. A trade-name record may name a filer and address. Many filed documents after August 2001 can be viewed without charge from the filing history.
Entity and resident-agent data reflect legal filings. They do not prove that a named person handles daily operations. Exact legal organization names also help when moving to the separate state UCC filing channel. Prince George’s permits and Maryland licenses are the proper extra layers because no Chillum city business registry exists.
Limits on Chillum People Directories
Not every record set is a general directory. Maryland’s voter lookup is an identity-gated self-service tool, and copies of voter lists are limited to qualified Maryland registered voters for electoral purposes. Institutional student data are login-restricted. No authoritative current residential white-pages directory was found, and private membership rolls may be intentionally unavailable.
Official substitutes should stay within their scope. Use agency staff pages for work contacts, property tools for recorded ownership, license boards for credentials, and archives for past people. Avoid low-quality compilations that blur source dates or copy data without showing the keeper. Lawful personal research never permits stalking, harassment, or an attempt to defeat a protected address.
Historical Chillum Directory Eras
Historical Chillum people directories are not one continuous printed run. The PGCMLS Discovery Suite points toward city directories, census, and genealogy sources, and the Frederick S. DeMarr Library specializes in Prince George’s County history. Yet their public authoritative pages did not publish exact city, reverse, phone-book, or yearbook years. That gap remains material. Ask a reference librarian which Washington suburban, Hyattsville, Polk, criss-cross, Haines, or telephone directory covers the exact address and year.

Maryland State Archives
Online, microfilm, and original historical series, with verified county indexes that reach well before modern Chillum.
- City directory
- A dated list usually arranged by resident or business name.
- Reverse directory
- A street-and-address list used to identify the occupant recorded for a place.
- Enumeration district
- A census area used to browse households when name indexing fails.
- Liber and folio
- The volume and page reference that points to a recorded land instrument.
Chillum’s development era changes the search. Before the late 1930s, use tract names, rural census districts, church, probate, and landowner evidence. Subdivision and lot references become stronger in the late 1930s and 1940s. By the 1950s, stable parcels, assessments, permits, telephone books, reverse directories, and school sources become more useful.
Chillum Archives Name Indexes
The Maryland State Archives online records extend a directory search beyond printed books. Verified Prince George’s resources include an 1870 census index, the 1806–1869 Freedom Records index, historical voter lists, land indexes, marriage material, and newspaper-derived marriage and death volumes. Surviving deed books reach 1712. The modern Chillum label may not appear in early records, so preserve tract, district, subdivision, and postal wording from each source.
MSA highlights more than 18,000 Freedom Records cards naming free Black people and former owners. Search both sides of that recorded relationship and do not assume a stable modern surname. The official Archives gateway shown below brings those web and research paths together.
The gateway is a starting point, not proof that every item is digitized. MSA also holds electronic, microfilm, and original series. A useful request includes name variants, dates, address or tract, known relatives, record type, and any citation already found. Ask for the series, item, or call number plus appointment and copy terms.
Note: The 1950 federal census is the newest public census under the 72-year rule and may require enumeration-district browsing.
